Culture Shop specializes in consumer and cultural insights, public relations and conversation engagement, sports and entertainment marketing, and experiential marketing and production.

Founded by Nate Schreiber in 2009, our goal was to create an agency that is nimble, agile, unencumbered and focused solely on our clients' business. Since then, we have compiled an impressive team of highly skilled senior leaders – alumni of the top media, advertising, sports and entertainment companies in the world – supported by a strong network of specialists.

Together, we have worked on some of the biggest moments in popular culture, and we count among our clients some of the most influential, best-in-class brands: Verizon, USA Network and Farmers Insurance.

Nate Schreiber

Founder and CEO of Culture Shop

Nate Schreiber is the founder and CEO of Culture Shop, and leads all aspects of the company to help clients affect the consumer conversation through experiential marketing, partnership marketing, content development, PR and beyond. Previously President of PMK/HBH, and one of the original employees of MomentumWW, Nate has worked on groundbreaking activations for brands including American Express, Charles Schwab, Farmers Insurance, Verizon, Xbox, Best Buy, USA Network, Nivea and TapouT. Nate is a graduate of Cornell University and lives in Los Angeles with his wife Kate, daughter Emily Coast and son Zev Roan.

 
 

Julie Safer

SVP of Public Relations

Julie Safer is SVP of Public Relations for Culture Shop. Julie works with clients such as Farmers Insurance, USA Network, and Verizon to tell their stories across all mediums. Previously, she was with PMK/HBH and Edelman where she represented clients including Jenny Craig, NIVEA/Beiersdorf, American Express Fashion/Golf/Tribeca Film Festival/Tennis, Hershey Foods, Starbucks and Georgia-Pacific. Julie brings to the agency her expertise in entertainment, partnership marketing, event marketing, travel/tourism, consumer packaged goods, cause-related marketing, and fashion. Along with her team, Julie has received numerous PR Week Awards, and Holmes Report Awards, among others. Julie lives in New York City with her husband and sons Harrison and Charlie.

 
 

Sarah Freeman

SVP and Client Services Director

Sarah Freeman is SVP and Client Services Director for Culture Shop, driving process and best practices and leading Verizon's brand and event marketing efforts. With extensive global experience for companies including Nestlé, Beverage Partners Worldwide and Cereal Partners Worldwide, Sarah has also overseen multiple award winning experiential campaigns for US clients including Nike, American Express and Verizon. Sarah spent 13 years at MomentumWW in various management positions before leaving to set up the New York office for Tribal Brands. When Sarah's not traveling (60 countries and counting) she loves hanging out in New York with her Morkie, Popcorn.

 
 

Catherine Stellin Waller

SVP of Cultural and Consumer Insights

Catherine Stellin Waller is SVP of Cultural and Consumer Insights. Catherine works across all client brands to ensure they are well poised to impact popular culture. Previously, Catherine was an executive at Creative Artists Agency, as well as VP of Research & Trends at Youth Intelligence.
A noted authority on consumer behavior,
she has appeared on The Today Show and CNN, and has worked with clients including 20th Century Fox, Farmers Insurance, L'Oreal, Nike, Paramount Pictures, Revlon, and Verizon. Catherine is a graduate of the University of Michigan and lives in Los Angeles with her husband Andrew, son Nicholas and daughter Julia.

 
 

Matt Wechsler

SVP of Ideas and Business Leadership

Matt Wechsler is SVP of Ideas and Business Leadership, leading the ideas, business and brand marketing teams, as well as the Farmers Insurance business. Matt's broad integrated marketing communications experience spans from branding to experiential and digital to product management. He was previously at Deutsch, Inc, and McCann Worldgroup, where he worked on clients including Volkswagen, Microsoft, P&G, Lexus, Sony PlayStation, HTC, Nike, Nokia and American Express. Matt consistently brings new and fresh thinking to clients and has a relentless focus on creating breakthrough experiences to drive consumer engagement and brand love. Matt is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and lives in Los Angeles, CA with his wife Frankie.

 
 

Stephanie Venia

VP of Branded Entertainment

Stephanie Venia is Vice President of Branded Entertainment, managing Verizon's portfolio of entertainment partnerships. With a background in public relations, she works to unite brands with consumers through the passion point of entertainment. With a keen focus on client service, as well as talent management, partnership and event marketing, Stephanie has worked on noteworthy campaigns on behalf of Verizon, The History Channel, Elizabeth Arden, Jazz at Lincoln Center, among others. Stephanie is a graduate of Binghamton University in New York and Scuola Lorenzo de' Medici in Florence, Italy. She is also an active volunteer across a number of organizations with a special soft spot for shelter animals.

 
 

Joe Rockhill

VP of Sponsorships and Partnership Management

Joe Rockhill is Vice President of Sponsorships and Partnership Management. Joe works with Farmers Insurance sponsorship business to create breakthrough marketing and experiential offerings. Previously, Joe was at McCann Erickson, where he led the Verizon Branded Entertainment team on partnerships including the launch of NFL Mobile, Verizon Championship Racing and the Verizon/Inception campaign in 2010. Joe is a graduate of Ithaca College and lives in Los Angeles with his wife Liza. He maintains his competitive edge competing in football, basketball, softball and kickball leagues, and remains a diehard Philadelphia fan.

 
 

Amy LaFrance

VP of Event Marketing and Consumer Promotions

Amy LaFrance is Vice President of Event Marketing and Consumer Promotions within the event marketing team. With an extensive background in integrated and shopper marketing, Amy has worked both client and agency side for some of the biggest companies in the world including Johnson & Johnson, The Coca-Cola Company, Revlon and Verizon. Amy lives in NJ with her husband Dan, daughter Emma, and son John. She spends most weekends scouring flea markets for the next best find or cheering on her kids from sidelines all over the east coast.

 
 

Dan Rozgony

Senior Account Director within the event marketing team

Dan Rozgony is a Senior Account Director within the event marketing team, currently overseeing Verizon's Consumer Electronics Show activation. Previously, Dan spent 10 years at MomentumWW where he managed sponsorship activations across sports and entertainment properties including US Open Tennis, US Open Golf, Tribeca Film Festival, the Grammy Awards, Sting's World Tour and more. Dan is a graduate of West Virginia University, and currently lives in Hoboken, NJ with his wife Amy and daughter Alexana.

 
 

Alainna Schiano

Senior Account Director within the event marketing team.

Alainna Schiano is an Account Director within the event marketing team, working with Verizon. Previously, Alainna worked in the Sponsorship Group for the Atlanta Hawks and Thrashers running day to day management on multiple accounts. She then transitioned to the agency environment working at Ogilvy, MomentumWW and IMG managing and leading sponsorship negotiations, strategy, planning and development with the NFL, NBA and MLB for several key clients including American Express, Johnson & Johnson, USAA and NRG. Alainna is a graduate of Fairfield University and currently resides in New York City.

 
 

Marcelle Lashley

Account Director within the event marketing team

Marcelle Lashley is Account Director within the event marketing team. Major recent activations include the Consumer Electronics Show, the Verizon Developer Community Conference and the launch of Verizon 4G LTE. Previously, she was Director of Marketing & Events at VIBE Magazine and Universal Music Group, where she worked with a large variety of Urban Entertainment Artists and Lifestyle Brands. Born in Port of Spain, Trinidad, Marcelle embraces her Portuguese, East Indian and African roots and enjoys spending her free time immersed in philanthropic efforts geared specifically towards children in underserved communities.

 
 

Oliver Buckwell

Music Specialist

Oliver works across clients on all things music related. Prior to joining Culture Shop, Oliver spent seven years at Tribal Brands working with Verizon, the UN and Motorola on music integrations. He set up his own independent label while at Bristol University in the UK in the nineties followed by senior roles as a digital music executive at the major labels, Universal and EMI. Oliver currently resides in Miami with his wife, Adel and their children Lucas, Daniel and Thomas.

 
 

Jonette Raus

Account Director within the branded entertainment team

Jonette Raus is an Account Director within the branded entertainment team, working with Verizon on entertainment partnerships and event activations. Previously at OgilvyAction and McCann Erikson, she has worked with clients including U.S. Army, New Balance, American Express, and Nationwide Insurance. Jonette lives in New York City and spends her free time teaching Bar Method fitness classes and running around New York City with her dog, Jersey.

She is a graduate of UC Santa Barbara and currently lives in Santa Monica, where she is a dedicated yogi and music lover.

 
 

Laura Markofsky

Account Supervisor within the public relations team

Laura Markofsky is an Account Supervisor within the public relations team. Laura works with USA Network, Farmers Insurance and Verizon, developing and executing robust media relations programs that focus on both traditional and social media. Previously, she worked at PMK/HBH, MWW and Edelman, working on consumer lifestyle brands including NIVEA/Beiersdorf, American Express, Sara Lee, T.J. Maxx/Marshalls, and Unilever/AXE. Laura hails from Detroit, Michigan and is a graduate of the University of Michigan. She currently resides in New York City.

 
 

Ilana Rubin

Ilana Rubin is a Senior Account Executive within the public relations team. Ilana works with USA Network, Verizon and Farmers Insurance, developing and executing comprehensive media relations programs. Ilana has participated in a diverse selection of entertainment and lifestyle initiatives, having worked at Matter, Inc. and Ogilvy Entertainment on clients including Empire State Building, Kellogg's, Claritin, Diet Pepsi, Time Warner Cable and Kodak. To demonstrate Verizon's "For Best Results" campaign - and to commemorate the iconic Roseland Ballroom closing its doors forever - Verizon live streamed Lady Gaga’s final performance at the storied venue for fans across the country to experience.

Verizon delivered a multi-channel, customizable live streaming platform along with fully produced and instantly sharable performance highlights as they unfolded during the show. Regardless of whether fans were in the venue or at home, they were able to share the best moments from the event - in real-time - across their social networks.

The program garnered excitement among both fans and the media, with placements including Time Magazine, USA Today, and People and a very strong presence on social media.

Verizon and Jennifer Lopez partnered to launch Viva Móvil, a new premium retailer tailored specifically for Latino consumers. In collaboration with Brightstar and Moorehead Communications, Viva Móvil is revolutionizing the wireless shopping experience  – both online and in-store.

Culture Shop planned and produced the announcement during the 2013 CTIA conference and supported the introduction with a robust communications plan.  

The announcement garnered media placements including ET, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Extra, El Gorda y La Flaca, CNET, The Associated Press, CNBC and Univision.

Culture Shop helped Verizon Wireless unveil its first Destination Store, located at Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota, with a week-long celebration. The launch included an exclusive Premiere Event with surprise musical guests Owl City and Train for attendees consisting of employees, business and agency partners.

The following day, a very special first customer, pop culture phenomenon Selena Gomez, was welcomed by thousands of excited fans and Verizon executives to experience the new Destination Store.

Finishing the week, Sports Broadcaster Erin Andrews and Fashion Icon Nina Garcia made appearances, interacting with products while educating consumers on how to live a more connected lifestyle.

Culture Shop orchestrated a partnership for USA Network's Characters Unite with global pop sensation, Carly Rae Jepsen, for #UniteLIVE: The Concert to Rock Out Bullying.

The Las Vegas event, which commemorated National Bullying Prevention Month, hosted over 5,000 students and featured empowering musical acts, inspirational stories and entertainment programming with USA Network talent including James Roday, Mehcad Brooks, Nolan Gould and WWE Superstar Sheamus.

The program was featured in national publications including USA Today, The Hollywood Reporter, Billboard, Seventeen and EXTRA TV. Additional elements included an on-air PSA, after-school workshops, and an anti-bullying TV commercial script challenge.

Culture Shop produced the culmination of Verizon's "Powerful Answers" program with an awards show at CES 2014.

Designed to demonstrate Verizon's commitment to innovation for social good, the Powerful Answers program recognized innovative entrepreneurs for solving some of the world's biggest challenges in the areas of education, healthcare and sustainability.

The awards gala included a two-day media event hosted by Mo Rocca to celebrate and showcase the winners of $10M in prizing. The event generated significant earned media exposure in publications such as The Washington Post and PC Magazine.

Culture Shop helped Farmers Insurance launch the "Thank a Million Teachers. Give a Million Dollars." campaign with a press event featuring Jack Black, an activation on the Farmers float in the 2014 Rose Parade® and local media and community relations in markets where nominated teachers impact children every day.

The Corporate Giving initiative was designed to engage consumers by thanking teachers and voting on grants, as well as educators who were invited to submit applications to receive up to $1M in grants.

To date, the program is surpassing its goals for Thank You's and has received media placements including the Los Angeles Times, AP Television, Life & Style/In Touch, Extra.com, AccessHollywood.com, and USA Today.

On behalf of Verizon, Culture Shop produced the ultimate Super Bowl viewing event at the Verizon Power House in Bryant Park. The exclusive, intimate private event provided the opportunity to view the Super Bowl in a whole new way through multi-camera angles using Verizon Multicast technology.

The event included appearances by top NFL Players, music by Andrew Andrew and everyone's favorite tailgating foods. Attendees included 200 specially selected guests, made up of partners, employees and media (including Marie Claire, NBC New York and People Magazine).

Driving consumer engagement across a portfolio of film related properties

In partnership with DreamWorks Animation, Culture Shop helped Verizon create an entertainment platform surrounding the animated film Turbo, including a mobile racing game, in-film and in-game integrations and cross-promotion of Verizon's existing INDYCAR relationship.

To drive downloads of the game, Verizon sponsored The Million Dollar Shell-Out contest, awarding $1,000,000 in cash prizes over an eight-week period, culminating in a live grand finale gaming event. The Turbo Racing League game garnered well over 20 million downloads worldwide throughout the summer, and ranked as the #1 racing app for ten consecutive weeks.

Culture Shop helped Farmers Insurance introduce a hyper-local Corporate Giving initiative to support communities who need help getting to the finish line of recovery from natural disasters, starting with Joplin, MO.

With an objective to demonstrate to local communities that Farmers is a company that cares, the program has been recognized by the Clinton Global Initiative for leadership in Disaster Recovery. The contributions from Farmers included over 10,000 volunteer hours, financial donations and a disaster recovery playbook that can be used by other communities when disaster strikes.

Verizon has worked with Culture Shop for the last three years to deepen their presence at the Consumer Electronics Show. This year, Verizon demonstrated their technology leadership position with a re-imagined and dynamic 12,000 square foot booth experience, CEO keynote and launch of their Powerful Answers master brand campaign.

The Verizon experience focused on bringing to life how Verizon goes beyond mobile technology to power innovation in such diverse fields as medicine, automotive, health and wellness, and education, among others. Verizon also announced their Powerful Answers Award Contest, where they will award $10 million to individuals or organizations around the world who provide solutions to the world's biggest challenges.

This year marked USA Network's third annual Characters Unite Month, a program designed to encourage dialogue around tough issues and inspire people to say "I won't stand for…" anymore. As part of this, USA Network premiered a documentary, in partnership with the NFL, that features four NFL players and their deeply personal stories of prejudice.

The players unveiled the film during Super Bowl weekend with a screening, press conference and a Q&A. A PSA featuring USA Network stars, NFL players and NBC on-air talent, also premiered. The program then included a 9 city national bus tour to drive local market coverage and consumer engagement with the Characters Unite movement.

The announcement became the national news of the week, generating massive media coverage including a 7 minute segment on The Daily Show positioning Verizon as liberators of the iPhone now that consumers had another carrier option.

Suits & Style, multi-platform fashion and lifestyle partnership, celebrated season 2 of the hit TV series SUITS. The partnership included a SUITS-inspired microsite, a dynamic fashion show on NYC's High Line featuring the stars of the show, a pop-up shop in NYC's Meatpacking District, a multi-market "Army of Suitors" street team in 4 cities, a SUIT Yourself App and a 20 page SUITS-themed print publication distributed around the country.

Culture Shop led all media relations efforts, resulting in a feature in the New York Times Sunday Styles section.

Farmers Insurance's Dream Wedding

In order to highlight that big life changes mean big insurance changes, Farmers Insurance launched a national "Dream Wedding" contest via social media, to find one couple to get married in front of millions of witnesses via live television and many more lining the parade route.

Following an open entry period via Farmers' social media channels, 4 final couples were selected. The couples then vied for America's votes, with Nicole and Gerald of Chesapeake, VA winning the "Dream Wedding" contest.

The entire experience was documented – from the couple's wedding shower to the fitting of the dress to the couple's first dance – and posted to a microsite so fans could be a part of it.

As the happy couple said their "I Dos," the moment was replayed on hundreds of news programs and shared across the world via social media. The Today Show and Good Morning America were among the programs that covered the events.

Inspired by USA Network's iconic "Characters Welcome" brand, Culture Shop helped create a program to celebrate the interesting, dazzling, distinctive and unforgettable people who make our lives unique. Character Project launched in 2009 with a focus on photography and evolved into a program focused on film.

Culture Shop selected a production company to curate a series of short films that explore the theme of "character" from each filmmaker's own perspective. We activated a comprehensive publicity campaign around the film series, with VIP premieres in NYC and LA and a 4 city traveling screening exhibition and contemporary art installation. The program garnered well over 200 million media impressions and positioned USA Network as a powerful creative outlet in the film industry.
